Discussion Questions

Please discuss the questions in any order you'd like.
Numbers are just there for easier reference.

  1. Do you have relationships with any US residents?

  2. Have you ever visited the US? Where have you gone?

  3. Who do you think will win the US presidential election? How will the outcome impact Canada?

  4. Our current provincial government has arguably modelled some of its policies on American legislation from certain States. How do you feel about this? What legislation do you hope our province or country adopts? What aspects of American governance do you prefer we avoid?

  5. How do you consume Canadian, American, and international news? Is your source of news personalized to you by algorithms (social media, or news aggregators like Apple News or Google News) or less constrained by your interests (newspaper and television news websites)?

  6. What can Canadians learn from the culture/s of the United States? What can Americans learn from the culture/s of Canada?

  7. The US aspires to be a melting pot where all cultures blend into the American meta-culture. Canada aspires to be a cultural mosaic where people can retain their distinctives while adding Canadian identity to them. Do you prefer one of these aspirations over the other?

  8. What are your favourite places to visit in the US? What are your favourite Canadian destinations? How do they compare?
