  1. How would you define free will? Does your definition differ from the various definitions in the background materials below?

  2. Do you believe people have free will? Do animals have free will? If you believe humans have free will, when did we gain this capacity?

  3. Do you know anyone who is a determinist? Is their determinism influenced by a philosophical perspective, by empirical evidence, or by religious dogma?

  4. What limits free will?

  5. If free will doesn't exist, can morality exist?

  6. What does the existence or lack-thereof of free will imply about the nature of God?

  7. What do you think of the idea of compatibilism?

  8. Do you see a difference in behaviour between people who feel they have a high degree of control over their actions and circumstances and those who feel they don't have control?

  9. Within Christianity, are you familiar with Calvinism, Armenianism, and Universalism? What do each of these theologies say about free will?

  10. Are you familiar with how the idea of free will is viewed in other religions?

Most King's Bridge gatherings take place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, which is Treaty 7 territory. This is part of the traditional home of the Blackfoot Confederacy (which includes the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Îethka Nakoda Wîcastabi First Nations (which includes the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations), and the Tsuut’ina First Nations. Calgary is also part of the homeland of the Northwest Métis and Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3.
